 North Coast Stand Down is a three-day event for ALL Veterans and their families with numerous kinds of  assistance.  Earned VA Mediacal & other benefit information, Food, lodging, showers, haircuts, & information from NUMEROUS agencies offering help to any veteran that wants it.  This will be the 4th Stand Down here in Humboldt County. 

All Vets please join us on Saturday, October 4th for a , All veterans Day, at the Humboldt County Farirgrounds.  There will be a tri-tip bar-b-que & live entertainment & lots of camaraderie.  A Veterans and Dependants Information Fair and BBQ. Free Transportation will be provided from Humboldt, Del Norte Counties, Hoopa, and Willow Creek areas for all 3 days..

Many services will be provided:  Medical Care, Legal Assistance, Food, Clothing, Government Surplus and Supplies, Women and Children's Services, Veteran's Benefit Information, Barbers, Showers and Toiletries, Social Security Information, and much more.  Knowledge is power.

This event's goals are too empower all Veteran's with information and services that are needed to help take a stand against homelessness.

Get information on:  Agent Orange, PTSD, & Hepatitis C, Drug and Alcohol Referrals, Employment Assistance, Food Stamps/ General Assistance, Gulf and Iraq War Info, Housing information, Social Security, Veteran's Benefits

Services Provided:  Barbers, Showers, Toiletries, Court Services(MUST pre-register!!), Food and Shelter during event, Clothing and Supplies, Spiritual Support and Counseling services, and women and children services.

Specialized needs, the Stand Down offers a wide variety of services.  The event offers a safe environment & a lot of people throughout the north coast communities who support our men & women veterans with pride.

Please refer all Vets for a hand-up, not a hand-out...With special emphasis with reaching the younger military personnel that have served in the last 20 years...  ALL Veterans are appreciated & you don't have to be homeless to attend.  Stand Down is about meeting all our Veterans needs, whatever they may be.  If you're a Veteran who like's visiting with his fellow veterans & enjoying great food & great entertainment the Stand Down is for you... Maybe you'll run across an old comrade....

There will be free transportation for those who need it & all veterans who plan on attending or voluntering their services are strongly encouraged to register now.  Call the Redwoods Veterans Center at 444-8271.  Veterans can get a copy of their DD-214 at the County Verterans Office at 445-7341.
